To provide entertaining and uplifting
speech and music 24 hours a day of direct relevance to older
persons.
To promote health and well being of older
persons.
To provide reminiscence therapy for those
suffering memory loss.
To affirm that older persons are still
a valuble and valued part of society.
To enable older people to have access
to a radio station that understands them, treats them respectfully
and is sympathetic to their situation.
To enable listeners to request records
from the years 1900 - 1959 which are unavailable on any other
radio station locally or nationally.
To offer bereavement counselling. To enable
those suffering loss of a loved one to share their burden.
To provide charities offering help to
older persons with a central point of information, distribution
and exchange.
To provide work experience in radio production
and presentation for older persons.
To ascertain the needs of older people
in day to day life and to pass this information to the relevant
service providers.
To remove the sense of isolation felt
by those who are housebound.
To offer a night time friendship line
to those who cannot sleep and are feeling lonely or afraid.
To produce an oral library of recordings
of older person's reminiscences and to make these available to
schools and colleges for social history lessons and special projects.
